For anyone who did not get my email

Hi parents,   My name is Dave Delesdernier and I will be coaching your kids this season for flag football.  This is my second year in the program with my son Tedy.  Last year we had a great group of kids who played their hearts out and had a ton of fun.  It was such an honor to be a part of all of their journeys last year.  We focused practice on sportsmanship, teamwork, memorizing plays (we only had 5 till the end of the year), and most of all having fun.    You should have all received a copy of this year’s schedule.  If it works the way it did last year, each game will be preceded by a 1hr practice.  So 2hrs each Sunday.  The first week is just a practice on the 15th at 12pm.  Each week after that, we will have games.  Your schedule says the games are at 1pm.  This means you need to be at the fields by 12pm for our 1hr practice before each game.    Uniforms and any additional equipment purchased will be distributed at that first practice.  In addition, each child is REQUIRED to have a mouth guard.   If your child does not have one they will not let them play.  They were very strict with this last year.  (I usually go out and buy 2 or 3 of the cheap ones from Walmart before the season.  If your child forgets his for the game, you can purchase one from me.)  Also I usually bring water and orange slices for the kids.  It is up to you if your child wants a sports drink or their own personal water bottles.    As far as snacks, last year all of my parents were great and communicated with each other a rotating “snack schedule”.  Basically each week 1 parent provided snacks and drinks for the entire team after the game.  It worked out great.  I would love for you all to take on that role again.    As of this moment, I do not have an assistant coach.  But I would love it if any of the parents (women or men) wanted to assist.  You don’t need any training or background in football or coaching.  Just a desire to help out.  As a matter of fact, the rules are very very different from tackle football and I can lead any volunteer as to how to help.  It’s mostly helping focus all the kids through practice and then helping rotate the kids throughout the games.  The league does do a basic background check on any coaching volunteer so we would need to get that done through them as well.  Please email me privately with any interest or questions.    In regards to playing time, all kids will play every position at least once in a game.  Every child.  As the season moves on, we may have specific rolls for some players based on their skills and their desire to play a certain position.  But as I said, your child will play EVERY position at some time in a game.  And every child will be rotated in and out of games.    Attitude and physical stamina do factor in on these rotations as well.    As parents, I would request you come to as many games as possible and invite as many friends and family to come and cheer on our kids.  Please also read and respect the parent code of conduct you signed when you enrolled your child.  I will constantly instill sportsmanship to my team and show respect to our opponents.  I expect our parents to do the same.   I think that’s all for now.  I am excited to meet all of you and your kids.  We are the Steelers this year.  My son Tedy will be wearing his jersey for the first practice so we should be easy to find.  Let me know any questions I can answer for you!  See you soon.     Coach Dave
